A) For the effect shown you'll need three colors: yellow, dark turquoise, and navy blue. For each paint color, mix together about one tablespoon of paint with ¼ cup water in separate bowls.
A) Wet the cloth napkin.
B) Squeeze most of the water out so that the napkin remains damp but not dripping.
A) Dip the bottom of the napkin into the yellow paint mixture. Tip: Use a craft stick to submerge about ¾ of the napkin into the paint mixture. Lift the napkin out and let it drip for a bit over the bowl.
B) Dip the napkin into the dark turquoise paint mixture. Tip: Use the craft stick to submerge the napkin so almost all of the yellow is covered. Lift the napkin out and let it drip for a bit over the bowl.
C) Dip the napkin into the navy blue paint mixture. Tip: Use the craft stick to submerge just the bottom edge of the napkin. Lift the napkin out and let it drip for a bit over the bowl.
A) Carefully open the napkin and hang it to dry. Tip: Be careful handling the napkin. Since the cloth is wet, it will pick up any color that accidentally gets transferred if the sides touch.
A) Once the napkin is dry, use an iron to press out any wrinkles and help set the color. Note: The color will be lighter once the napkin is dry.
A) Your napkin is ready to use! Repeat the process to make more unique napkins.
