A) Roll a log shape and a ball shape from the air-dry clay. This will be the mushroom stem and cap.
B) Mold the log shape to distort it and add character to the stem.
C) Mold the ball shape into a mushroom cap shape.
D) Press the stem and cap together to make the mushroom.
A) Make small clay balls.
B) Press the clay balls onto the mushroom cap to flatten them.
C) Make as many dots on the mushroom cap as you’d like.
D) Note: Be sure not to place any dots on the center of the mushroom cap so the wire holder can be inserted.
A) Wrap the wire around a round object that has a circumference of about 1". Make two passes to create two loops.
B) Shape the wire into a holder. Twist the looped end of the wire to secure it in place. Leave enough wire to insert into the mushroom.
C) Insert the wire holder into the top of the mushroom.
D) Let the mushroom completely dry.
A) Make a 1:1 mix of brown paint and water to create a light wash.
B) Paint the stem of the mushroom.
C) Let dry.
A) Paint the cap of the mushroom dark red. Let dry.
B) Paint the dots on the cap of the mushroom white. Let dry.
C) Add small white dots around the edge of the mushroom cap using the end of a paint brush. Let dry.
A) Insert the card into the wire holder.
B) The mushroom place card holder is complete!
