Faux Metal Star

Faux Metal Star
Craft a stylish faux galvanized metal star from black poster board and silver metallic paint for an easy holiday project with farmhouse flair. Use it as a festive accent by pairing it with a candle, greenery, or moss for a warm and inviting seasonal display.

Let's Get Started

STEP 1:

A) Print the template and cut out the star shape.

STEP 2:

A)    Trace and cut the star shape from both cardboard and black poster board.

STEP 3:

A)    Cut a one-inch-wide strip from the long edge of the black poster board.

STEP 4:

A)    Use the inner and outer points of the cardboard star as guides to mark where to crease the long poster board strip.

B)    Fold the strip at each crease.

C)   Continue working your way around the cardboard star.

D)   Trim any excess length so the strip fits neatly with no overlap.

STEP 5:

A)    Hot glue the folded poster board strip to the edge of the cardboard star base.

B)    Work section by section, applying a bead of hot glue along the bottom edge of the strip and pressing it in place as you go.

STEP 6:

A)    Insert the black poster board star into the dimensional base. Tip: Secure it with a few dabs of hot glue if needed.

STEP 7:

A)    Using a dabbing motion, apply silver metallic paint to the base and sides of the star. Let dry.

B)    Your faux galvanized metal star is now ready to display!
