Faux Birch Winter Centerpiece
Add a rustic winter touch to your home decor with faux birch branches! You won’t believe how real they look after just a few simple steps.

Let's Get Started

STEP 1:

A) Cut irregular strips of brown kraft paper into random lengths.

B) Apply deco podge to a kraft paper strip.

C) Wrap the strip around the wood dowel. Repeat the process until the wood dowel is covered.

D) Crumple up small pieces of the kraft paper and deco podge them to the wood dowel to create little “knots” on the branch. Let dry.

STEP 2:

A) Paint the branch white. Let dry.

STEP 3:

A) Make a gray wash by mixing black and white paint with water. The color should be thin. We used a ratio of ¾ water to ¼ paint. Brush the wash on the branch. Let dry.

STEP 4:

A) Make a tan wash by mixing brown and white paint with water. The color should be thin. We used a ratio of ¾ water to ¼ paint. Brush the wash on the branch. Let dry.

STEP 5:

A) Make a black wash by mixing black paint with water. The color should be thin. We used a ratio of ½  water to ½  paint. Brush the wash on the branch to create random “stripes.” Let dry.
