Teacher Pencil Holder and Pencil Toppers

Teacher Pencil Holder and Pencil Toppers
This cute and easy-to-make DIY pencil jar project will add a touch of creativity and organization to any teacher's workspace, making it the perfect classroom decor item.

Let's Get Started

STEP 1:

A)    Cut yellow craft sticks in half. Note: You’ll need about 7 or 8 craft sticks cut in half.

B)    Trim the sides off the cut end of the craft stick to create a point like a pencil tip.

STEP 2:

A)    Use colored pencils to make the craft sticks look like pencils. Color enough craft stick pencils to fit around the jar.

STEP 3:

A)    Cut a scrap of paper that is 1 1/2" wide and long enough to wrap around the jar with a bit extra for overlap.

B)    Center a dot of hot glue on the back of a craft stick pencil and adhere it to the center of the paper strip.

C)   Continue adding craft stick pencils to the paper strip.

D)   Wrap the strip of craft stick pencils around the jar. Use tape to secure the strip of pencils in place. If needed, glue an additional craft stick pencil to the wrap to hide the gap.

STEP 4:

A)    Wrap a piece of jute around the jar a few times and knot it in place.

STEP 5:

A)    Cut 1 ½" wide by 6" long strips of red tissue paper.

B)    Apply deco podge to a pencil. Leave the eraser end exposed.

C)   Wrap the red tissue paper around the pencil. Add a bit more deco podge to the edge, if needed, to seal the tissue paper to the pencil. Let dry.

D)   Cut out apple leaf shapes from green cardstock and hot glue them near the top of the pencil. Make as many apple pencil toppers as you’d like to fill the pencil jar.
