Let's Get Started

STEP 1:

A)   Measure and cut 6" off the end of a sweater sleeve. Note: The length may vary according to your jar size.

B)   Slide the sweater sleeve over the jar so the cut edge is on the bottom. Tip: Tuck the cut edge of the sweater under so it looks like a finished edge.

STEP 2:

A)    Wrap burlap ribbon around the jar to measure length. Allow an extra inch for gluing, and then cut to size.

B)    Paint the piece of burlap ribbon with white paint. Let dry.

C)   Wrap the painted burlap around the jar, centering it over the sweater. Secure in place with hot glue. Note: Match the burlap seam with the sweater seam.

STEP 3:

A)    Cut a book page to 3 ½" x 7 ½". Use a gold paint marker to highlight the long edges of the page.

B)    Fold the page accordian style, from top to bottom. Note: Size of folds do not matter. Open the folds and run a thin bead of tacky glue down the center, over the peaks and valleys. Refold and pinch so the glue holds the accordian folds together in the center.

C)   Fold the accordian folds in half. Glue between the first and last folds. Let dry.

D)   Open the fan and glue between the remaining first and last folds. Let dry.

STEP 4:

A)    Cut a 12" length of jute.

B)    Coat the piece of jute with tacky glue and roll it into a circle to make the button. Let dry.

C)   Hot glue the jute button to the center of the paper fan.

STEP 5:

A)    Color a pearl with the gold paint marker. Let dry.

B)    Hot glue the gold pearl to the center of the jute button.

STEP 6:

A)    Wrap jute around the jar in a criss-cross pattern, over the sweater and burlap ribbon. Tie in the back at the seam.

B)    Hot glue the finished paper fan flower at the center of the criss-crossed jute.

STEP 7:

A)    Wrap burlap ribbon around the jar to measure length. Allow an extra inch for gluing, and then cut to size.

B)    Paint the piece of burlap ribbon with white paint. Let dry.

C)   Wrap the painted burlap around the jar, centering it. Secure in place with hot glue.

STEP 8:

A)    Measure and cut 3 ½" off the end of a sweater sleeve.

B)    Fold the cut edge under for a finished look. Slide the sweater cuff over the jar and center it on top of the painted burlap.

STEP 9:

A)    Trace the leaf template provided (or use your own leaf template) onto the book page and cut out the leaf. Use a gold paint marker to highlight the edge of the leaf.

B)    Hot glue the leaf to the center of the jar over the sweater and burlap.

C)   Tie jute around the jar and make a bow.

D)   Color a pearl with the gold paint marker. Let dry. Hot glue the gold pearl to the center of the jute knot.

STEP 10:

A)    Wrap burlap ribbon around the jar to measure length. Allow an extra inch for gluing, and then cut to size.

B)    Paint the piece of burlap ribbon with white paint. Let dry.

C)   Wrap the painted burlap around the jar, centering it. Secure in place with hot glue.

STEP 11:

A)    Remove the letter stencil and color it with the gold paint marker.

B)    Hot glue the letter stencil initial to the front of the jar.

C)   Color ten pearls with the gold paint marker. Let dry.

D)   Hot glue the gold pearls randomly onto the burlap wrap.
