Painted Wine Glass

What You'll Need:

  • Crafter's Closet Tacky Glue
  • Crafter's Closet Puffy Paint
  • Crafter's Closet Paint Brushes
  • Crafter's Closet Paint Pallet
  • Wine Glass
  • Neon Food Dye

Let's Do This!

Step 1:

  • Use black puffy paint to make a small circle in the center of the glass.
  • On a diagonal angle, make a slightly larger circle above the first circle and a slightly smaller circle below it to create the body of a dragonfly.
  • Fill each circle with blue puffy paint.
  • Use the black puff paint to add antennae and a tail.

Step 2:

  • Starting from the middle circle, draw black puffy paint outward to create an oval shape, ending back at your starting point.
  • Repeat this process to create smaller wings underneath the large wings. You can add detail and dimension to these wings by adding lines or dots.

Step 3:

  • Rotate the glass 180 degrees to the back side and place a piece of paper towel or paper inside the glass. Create cat tails, by drawing 2 long stems leading down to base of glass and a long oval at the top of each stem. Add a small line at top of each oval for detail.
  • Add in small dragonfly silhouettes around the cattails. Using a small "X" as a base you can create a front facing silhouette and using a sideways "V" you can create a side view silhouette.

Step 4:

Create stained glass paint by mixing tacky glue with food coloring. In a pallet, pour tacky glue into two slots. Add two drops of blue dye to one slot and 2 drops of purple to the other. Mix each completely until the glue turns to a solid color.

Step 5:

  • Paint the large wings of the dragonfly with the blue stained glass paint.
  • Use the purple stained glass paint to paint the smaller wings and the cattails.

Step 6:

  • Paint alternating lines of blue and purple down the stem of the glass.
  • Use black puffy paint to add detail around the top of stem and around the base to complete your project.
