A) Make a mixture of gray paint and baking soda to create a cement-like texture.
B) Paint the mixture onto the glass vase. Use several coats, if needed, letting each coat dry in between applications.
C) Your vase now has a faux cement foundation.
A) Decide on a color palette for the paper. Cut out the main shapes of your design and then cut filler shapes to go in between. The pieces do not have to be perfect. In fact, the random, jagged edges are reminiscent of cut mosaic glass.
B) Lay the pieces on the vase to solidify the design.
A) Use matte decoupage to adhere the paper pieces to the sides of the vase.
B) Let the vase dry.
C) If desired, add contrasting paper pieces down the sides of the vase to help delineate between the side panels.
D) Let the vase dry.
A) Apply the dimensional decoupage to the paper pieces only.
B) Keep the dimensional decoupage within the edges of the paper. It will settle and dry after sitting flat for a few hours.
C) Your vase is now ready to display!
