Steps to Follow:
To make this poster by hand:
- Start with a piece of ArtSkills white foam board and lay it out vertically.
- Cut a piece of ArtSkills classic blue poster board in half and glue one of the halves to the bottom of your foam board.
- Find a snowflake clip art image you like. Print out 5 copies of it and cut them out, then glue them down along the top edge of your poster, slightly overlapping the edge.
- Add the first half of your title, "DEC 21ST," centered below your snowflakes using large ArtSkills Vinyl Letters (use small ArtSkills Vinyl Poster Letters for the "ST"). Centered below that, add the second half of your title, "WINTER SOLSTICE," using blue ArtSkills Jumbo Foam Letters. Centered just above where the blue poster board starts, add "SHORTEST DAY" using small ArtSkills Vinyl Poster Letters. Centered below that at the top of the blue poster board, add "LONGEST DAY" using small ArtSkills Vinyl Poster Letters.
- Find one clip art image of the sun and one of the moon. Print and cut them out, then glue the sun down to the left of your title and the moon down to the right.
- Print out all your winter solstice information in paragraphs on a colored piece of paper of your choosing. Cut each paragraph out individually, giving them wavy edges, then glue them down around the bottom, blue half of your poster. Line the outside of each of these with yellow ArtSkills Jumbo Glitter Glue.
- Throughout the empty space in the bottom, blue half of your poster, add star shapes using blue ArtSkills Jumbo Glitter Glue. When this dries, poke holes through your stars from the back of your foam board using the poker provided in your ArtSkills Poster Lights Kit. Push your light bulbs through these holes, then adhere the battery pack to the back of your foam board using the adhesive strip provided. You will have to install batteries for your lights to work.
- Awesome! Your light-up poster is all ready to go.
